Suburban Blend is the newest RIDER OWNED AND OPERATED snowboard shop on the East Coast. It definitely has mad credibility since the owners have appeared snowboarding in magazines, videos, mtv, Burton Ads, Billabong posters and more. This is the place that brings the life of snowboarding to a city in New York State, Jamestown to be exact. This shop creates the snowboarding feeling, and you can tell that it is rider owned. Suburban Blend is officially a Snowrev PROPER PLACE.

Trash-Not Trash

I used to work in one of the biggest snowboard shops in the world.

The name of the store is Wave Rave Snowboard Shop and its located in Mammoth Lakes California. I worked there for about three years under the supervision of owner Steve Klassen, GM Tim Gallagher, Alex Wells and Dawn True. Working for Wave Rave was definitely an experience I will never forget.

I started working at Wave Rave in 2002 and immediately felt like I was family and that Wave Rave was my home. I would spend more time at the shop than I would at my condo. All of my friends during my first season were working there, and at one point five kids from my home town Jamestown New York worked in the shop. This was a great time.

Everyone was so supportive of me as a snowboarder and their encouragement lead me to do many great things with my riding.  They helped me get sponsorships and pushed me to ride everyday.  One of Steve Klassen’s requirements for working at Wave Rave is you have to love to snowboard and ride as much as possible.  He really encourages snowboarders to ride and loves to employee kids that are as passionate about riding as he is.  Steve is a pro snowboarder and has been shredding in Mammoth since before they allowed it.  Steve is one guy who is willing to do anything for his employees and looks out for his whole crew.

I remember the sales training and product knowledge Wave Rave used to offer.  It is something I will always carry with me and use it everyday.  “Sparc it up”.

to be continued.

Rome Snowboard Snowboarding Design Syndicate
One thing I have learned from watching Rome Snowboards is that marketing can be done very effective through the use of guerrilla tactics. The crew over at Rome have placed propaganda all over the East Coast and some parts of the west. I have seen their ads on street signs and most importantly lift poles. I think that the lift pole effect is one of the best sticker placement tactics I have seen yet.

Rome also features what they call the Snowboard Design Syndicate. Through this outlet they allow users (riders) of their gear to send them input, test the snowboards and post their own content of them shredding their boards.

You can get ROME SNOWBOARDS at SHOPTHEBLEND.COM

Shop The Blend

Shoptheblend.com owned and operated by Snowboarder Pete Scheira. Check out his travels to the interior of British Columbia. Golden BC. Photo’s by The Senator.

Me overlooking Glacier National Park, you can sled to the border from Quartz, but you can’t sled in the park, I don’t blame them. Hands down, the best scenics I’ve ever seen.
Pete Scheira

The first pic is of Peter Benchetler slashing a pillow jib at a zone call Lower Holt, super fun obstacle. The next pic is of a range called the Dogtooth Range, its really prominent, rumor has it Jeremy Jones was sessioning the backside of it for TGR’s new film. The next pic is of Baun’s garage, Nate is piss ass drunk, his eyes are all out of alignment, so hilarious.

Me attempting a log ride, I got DESTROYED. Collin has a way better shot, I’ll send it when I get it. I fell like fifteen feet down onto the one spot in the creek bed where there wasn’t rocks, cool shot though. You can obviously see I’m about to catch my toe edge, I dont even remember going for the boardslide. This zone is called The Blaeberry is super avalance prone, very dangerous, but so sick. The next picture is The aftermath, Collin has a whole photo story of the shot, from climbing the tree to landing in the creek, its awesome.

Shoptheblend.com is a new online store where you will be able to get all your snowboard gear. It is owned by core to the floor snowboarder Pete Scheira. Pete is a ripper and I wouldn’t trust buying my snowboard gear from any other rider. Except Steve Klassen, he is pretty core too. Actually, Pete’s work experience includes launching and operating Wave Rave snowboard shops successful online store. He knows whats up and he will be snowboarding for life. Check them out, Shoptheblend.com

CORE TO THE FLOOR. This store represents all that is snowboard shops. I have to believe they are in this to give kids the opportunity to go riding. There was a time when I was moving to Mammoth Mountain and I didn’t even have a board. Scott and Sue dug into their inventory and gave me the board that set me off on the right foot to California. I owe them a ton. Long Live Suburban Blend.
